Born in Salyersville, Kentucky, Goldie was the daughter of Elbert and Raine (Clemons) Ritchie. She was one of twelve children, and at about six years of age, her family relocated to Ohio, where she would spend the remainder of her life building a home and raising her family.
Goldie dedicated many years of her working life to ITT N Electric in Galion, where she was a valued employee until the company was sold and relocated.
A woman of deep faith, Goldie's religious beliefs were the foundation of her life and guided her with kindness, compassion, and grace. She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved crocheting beautiful handmade creations, eagerly worked through challenging puzzle books, and could often be found enjoying a game of bingo. She also had a special affection for birds, whose beauty and songs brought her comfort and happiness.
Goldie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Elbert and Raine Ritchie; a son at 3 months old, Brian Whisler; son, Michael Whisler; nine of her siblings; her niece, Susie Ritchie; and her nephew, Bobby Ritchie.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her daughter, Elizabeth Stover; her sons, Stephen Whisler and Howard Whisler; her grandson, Michael Stover; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Whisler; her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Penelope Stover and her sisters, Bethel Stover and Marlene Ritchie.
In accordance with Goldie's wishes, there will be no public services. Her family invites those who knew her to honor her memory in their own way, perhaps by offering a prayer, completing a favorite puzzle, feeding the birds, or performing a simple act of kindness in her name.
Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the family of Goldie Mae Whisler.
