

Gregory T. Blackburn, 36, of Lucas died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, June 18, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Blackburn was born September 28, 1965 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Doug and Jean Payton Blackburn. He was an area resident most of his life and was employed as a truck driver for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company. Greg loved to hunt and coach his sons in sports. He was a member of the NRA and the Spring Valley Hunting Club in Lucas. He was a beloved husband, father, and son.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, JoAnn McGugin Blackburn; three sons, Jeremy Trent Blackburn, Justin Lee Blackburn, and Jameson Douglas Blackburn, all at home; his parents, Doug and Jean Blackburn of Mansfield; mother-in-law, Donita McGugin of Lucas; grandmothers, Margaret Blackburn of Minford, Ohio and Florene Payton of Portsmouth, Ohio; special friend and brother-in-law Tony Spoerr of Lucas; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James McGugin, and both grandfathers, Donald Blackburn and Billie Payton.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, June 21, 2002, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home, Saturday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Arthur L. Lowe and Rev. Perry Brafford. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greg's boys in care of JoAnn Blackburn.
