
Harold E. Phillips, 80, of Mansfield, died late Thursday, June 18, 2009, in Hospice House in Ashland. Born August 5, 1928, in Jackson, Ohio, he was the son of John and Electra Combs Phillips. Harold retired from Columbia Gas after 36 years of service, working at Sherman Williams for the last 15 years. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Columbia Gas. Harold and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida. He enjoyed NASCAR and watching western movies. Harold loved and worshiped the Lord at Journey Life Center. He found great joy in spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Laura Harden Phillips, whom he married February 12, 1965; nine children, Larry Phillips of Mansfield, Laurie Rob Spellman of Ontario, Nancy Michael Daugherty of Ontario, Carol Tolley of Ashland, Lin Baker of Ontario, David Phillips of Mansfield, Patricia Rick Butler of Iberia, Margaret Bill Gillium of Mansfield and Richard Phillips of Wooster; sixteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ivan Roseberry; daughter, Candy Phillips; granddaughter, Lori Gillium; and sister, Helen Bus Taylor.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Dr. Bruce A. Philippi of Journey Life Center officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
