

Harriet Dagney Young, 89, of Mansfield, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017, at Oak Grove Manor. She was born March 13, 1928, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Erik and Ester (Fritz) Erikson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Warren Young in 1992.
Harriet grew up in Boston, and moved to Oberlin, Ohio, finally settling in Mansfield in 1950. She retired after 30 years of service with Weight Watchers. A member of Main St. United Methodist Church, she was active in the Teddy Bear Ministry. Harriet was an animal lover and her dog, Puppa and several cats were lucky enough to receive her unconditional love.
Harriet was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking many dishes at the holidays. She enjoyed listening to Polka and Big Band music, and playing Bridge. In her later years, she became a great OSU Buckeyes fan. Harriet was most proud of her family and adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Allan Bruce (Malee) Young, Linda (James) Lamson and Robert (Debra) Young; six grandchildren, Gary (April) Young, Annalisa (James) Gibbs, Michael (Julia) Lamson, Christina Lamson, Jared Kelsay, and Jessica (Nick) Lewakowski; ten great-grandchildren; and three cousins, Sonja Askling, Lars Simonsson and Freddie Askling.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 17, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church, with Pastor DeWayne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Avenue West, Ontario, Ohio 44906.
