

Helen D. Cross, 97, of Mansfield, died March 19, 2015. Born April 18, 1917 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Mathias Ezekial and Susanna (Scholler) Ernst. Helen graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and went to work for Westinghouse. In 1939, while working the Westinghouse exhibit at the World's Fair in Queens, NY, she met her husband, Russell Cross. An independent woman, Helen could overcome all obstacles. She loved to travel and had been many places, including all over the United States and Canada, China, Japan, and Morocco. She also enjoyed trips to local casinos. In her free time, Helen liked to go to craft shows, do crossword puzzles, and work in her flower and vegetable gardens. An animal lover, she enjoyed caring for all types.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol (Roger) Everett of Mt. Vernon, Linda Payne of Satsuma, FL, and Trudy Baker of Mansfield; grandchildren, Wynne Everett of Maumee and Rhett (Isabel) Everett of Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Milena Everett; and her beloved dog, Daisy.
Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband; and son-in-law, Greg Baker.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Joe Parsons of MedCentral Home Health Care, the staff of MedCentral Wound Clinic, especially her nurse, "Dr." Lori Papst, and Southern Care Hospice staff, Val Bayless and Samantha Stumbo.
