Helen Evelyn Lincoln, 98, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016, surrounded by her family at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. She was born February 16, 1917, to the late John and Elizabeth (Engleman) Heitz.
Although Helen never had children, she was fondly known as "Aunt Helen" to everyone she met. She not only adored her family, but loved her St. John's United Church of Christ family and her extended family at Arbors at Mifflin. Even her neighbors on Eaton Street, where she lived for 56 years, called her Aunt Helen. Never obtaining a driver's license, Helen lived next door to her special nephew, David Moysi, and his wife, Gloria, who were her loving caregivers in her later years. David always made sure she had a beautiful lawn and plenty of groceries. He enjoyed taking her to church each Sunday, the beauty shop on Friday and then out to dinner on Friday night. David and Gloria escorted her to many doctor appointments over the years. The Moysi family always shared breakfast together after church on Sunday mornings.
Helen enjoyed pretty things. She had a beautiful collection of amber Fenton glass, hand-painted dishes, and a complete set of Franciscan Ware apple dishes. She always made her table pretty for guests and her family enjoyed many fish frys and chicken goulash. The little ones looked forward to Tupperware midgets full of M & Ms upon their arrival at her home. She became a resident of Arbors at Mifflin in January 2015. She was named Prom Queen in May and was the Fair Queen Representative for Mifflin Care in August 2015 at the Richland County Fair. Helen enjoyed attending exercise class and Bingo at Arbors at Mifflin and sharing stories with her close friends.
Helen retired from Westinghouse in 1975 after 35 years of employment. She was a life member of St. John's United Church of Christ and was known for achieving the "highest bid item" at the St. John's Bake Sale Auction with her delicious elderberry pie. No family gathering was complete without Aunt Helen's apple pie and deviled eggs. At Christmas, she would treat her family to Tupperware containers full of her delicious Christmas cookies and nut kipfel, which was a family favorite.
Helen's family wishes to thank all of her many wonderful caregivers at Arbors at Mifflin and Hospice of North Central Ohio for their love and care of Aunt Helen.
Helen in survived by her special nieces, Gloria Moysi of Mansfield, Ohio, and Joan Kalstein of Lincoln Park, Michigan. Helen enjoyed many special family gatherings with her great nieces and nephews and their families. She is survived by great-nephews, Robert (Kathie) Grove and Mark (Joan) Moysi, both of Mansfield and Brent (Julie) Heitz of Toledo, Ohio; great-nieces, Carol (Jerry) Jamieson of Dayton, Ohio, Rhonda (Ron) Pore and Karen Moysi, both of Mansfield, Stephanie Heitz of Diamond, Ohio and Heidi (Teddy) Blankenship of Lincoln Park, Michigan; cousins, Erna and Karola Fichtelmann of Sindelfingen, Germany.
