
Helen Elizabeth 'Beth' Shaw, 94, of Mansfield, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Helen, better known as Beth, was born November 14, 1911, to Olive and Charles Puff in Bern, Kansas. Beth was a registered nurse, graduating from Stormont School of Nursing in Topeka, Kansas in 1932. She worked at a doctor's office and various hospitals throughout her career. Moving to Mansfield from Cincinnati in 1963, retiring from Mansfield General Hospital in 1979 as a nursing supervisor. Beth was a member of the Registered Nurses Association, American Red Cross, Stormont Alumni, FOREMs MGH Retirees, RSVP, actively involved at Conard House, Salvation Army, Lexington Senior Citizens Center, ETC., until declining health prevented. Beth especially enjoyed her family and her many friends.
Her two daughters and a son survive, Pat Neil Brock of Mansfield, Kay Jack Shafer of Spring Hill, Florida, and Jack Bonnie Shaw of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Sharon Brock Gabor of Kennett SQ., Pennsylvania, Beth Brock McNish of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Connie Shafer Long of Stillwater, Minnesota, Mark Shafer of Mentor, and Jodi Shaw Ward of Cincinnati; nine great-grandchildren, Daniel and Claire Gabor, David McNish, Christopher, Justin, and Caitlin Long, Jacob, Hayley, and Noah Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Bowie; and brother, Dick Puff.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the funeral home with Rev. Carl Cunfer officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
