
Henrietta J. Baumann, 74, of Mansfield, died late Monday evening, February 23, 2004, at Mansfield Memorial Homes after a brief illness. She was born November 9, 1929, in Paulding, Ohio to Henry and Lena Suttor Manz. She was a 1947 graduate of Paulding High School. On June 7, 1987, she married Elmer Gerber, who preceded her in death in 1990. On November 19, 1995, she married Obed Gerber who preceded her in death in 1999. On July 22, 2001, she married Adam Baumann who survives. Until her retirement in 1987, Henrietta worked as a legal secretary for 25 years with Attorney John F. Demuth in Paulding and 10 years with Weaner, Hutchinson, Zimmerman and Bacon in Defiance, Ohio. She was a member of Illinois Avenue Apostolic Christian Church and was baptized July 10, 1949.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Madeline Manz; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eli and Evelyn Manz and Ben and Carolyn Manz, all of Paulding; eight stepsons, Jake Baumann of Mansfield, Don Mary Gerber, Earl Pat Gerber and E. Lee Jenny Gerber, all of Decatur, Indiana, Carroll Louise Gerber and Lester Rosemary Gerber, all of Bluffton, Indiana, Paul Mary Jo Gerber of Craigville, Indiana and Dale Carol Ann Gerber of Ossian, Indiana; four stepdaughters, Carolyn Dave Roberts of Bluffton, Pauline Larry Gerber of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Lois Harry T. Gerber of Bluffton, and Rosetta Gary Ringger of Decatur; four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Baumann, Sophia Lamp, Lena Baumann, and Ida Aschliman; forty-eight step-grandchildren; one hundred and twenty step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Louise Manz of Cissna Park, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepdaughter, Kathleen Clough and three step-grandchildren, Byron Aschliman, Stacey Fiechter and Sue Ellen Gerber.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, February 26 from 3-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at Apostolic Christian Church, 84 N. Illinois Avenue, at 10:00 a.m. Friends may also call at the Apostolic Christian Church of Junction, Ohio, located at 13562 Road 147, Defiance, Ohio in rural Paulding County, on Friday, February 27 from 4-5 p.m., followed by a committal service. Burial will be in Dotterer Cemetery in Paulding, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the World Relief Fund in care of the church.
