

Henry F.'Bud' Byrd, 82, of Mansfield, died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Knox Community Hospital after a brief illness. Henry was born August 30, 1921 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Henry and Fonnie Byrd. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and was a member of the VFW post #3494. He enjoyed fishing and sang and played the guitar for Mansfield radio station WMAN.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Byrd of Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Barbara Byrd of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Robin, Tonya, and Bubby of Mansfield; two nephews, Terry Byrd of Mt. Vernon, and Melvin Byrd Jr. of Florida; a niece, Roseanne McNawara; and a special friend, Orrie Rush of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Byrd; four sisters, Jewell Alice, Jean Morterman, Velma Denton, and Nora Granger; and four brothers, Melvin Byrd Sr., Thomas Byrd, Terrell Byrd, and William Byrd.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday, June 16, 2004 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Military Services by the Mansfield Joint Veterans Council.
