J. Richard Smith, 91, of Bellville, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at his home. Born August 28, 1914 in Mansfield, he was the son of Robert and Mary Huntsman Smith. He retired in 1974 as an accountant at Mansfield Tire after 35 years of service. Mr. Smith enjoyed the outdoors and liked to fix things.
He is survived by his wife, Louise English Smith of Bellville; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Sheri Smith of Lexington; three grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Bryan and Sarah Smith, and Kristin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard in 1996; one brother; and one sister.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the 11 a.m. graveside service at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by Pastor Denise Marikis of the United Methodist Church of the Cross.
