
Jack Windell Hughes, 50, of Mansfield died November 17, 2006, at his residence. He went to be with the Lord after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Hughes is a graduate of Madison High School and attended North Central State College. Jack served AGR with the 179th Airlift Wing at Mansfield Lahm Air National Guard Base as MSGT and a member of the Phoenix Raven Global Protection unit. He also served with the US Marine Corps. He was an active member of Mansfield First Assembly of God where he served on the church board, as a Royal Ranger Commander and as a founding member of Rally Point Veterans ministry. Jack will be especially remembered for his love of his family, his God and his country. He lived his life to the fullest in every avenue he pursued. Throughout his extended illness, he consistently was an example to others on how to live through adversity with grace and strength.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Muegge; sons, Brandon and Ryan of Mansfield, Ohio; mother, Winifred Hughes; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Richard and Gertrude Muegge; brother and sister in law, Greg and Linda Hughes of Mansfield, Ohio; sister and brother in law, Judy and Nick Altstadt of Sidney, Ohio; sister in law, Karen Hughes of Mansfield, Ohio; sister in law and brother in law, Steve and Karla Thomas of Houston, Texas; brother in law and sister in law, Rick and Randie Muegge of Quantico, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. In addition, Jim Crawford has been a special friend and as a close as a brother. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hughes and brother, Ron Hughes.
Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at First Assembly of God with Pastor Brent Salyers officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park with full military honors.
