
Jackie R. Rhodes, 66, of 1281 Lucas Rd. died Wednesday August 22, 2001 following a brief illness. Mr. Rhodes was born August 10, 1935 in Anderson, SC, residing in the Mansfield area for the past forty years. He proudly retired from General Motors and attended Diamond Hill Cathedral. Mr. Rhodes was a member of Masonic Venus Lodge #152 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, American Legion Post#16, Baku Grotto and a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union. Mr. Rhodes was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Rhodes Sandlin of Zephyrhills, FL; two grandchildren, Irene and Roy Gibbler; one brother, Eugene Rhodes of Baltimore, MD; his former spouse, Mary Etta Smith of Mansfield; one step-daughter and step son-in-law, Debra and Raymond Herschler of Mansfield; and one step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Bob and Barb Smith of Willard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rossco L. R. and Anna B. Rhodes; his first wife, Lucy Irene Rhodes McGlaughlin and one brother, Bobby Rhodes.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Friday August 31, 2001 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 1, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Mel Schroeder. Burial of ashes will be in Mansfield Memorial Park on Saturday September 8, 2001 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God of Homes for Children in Sevierville, TN.
