
Jacob A. Campbell, 87 of Lucas, Ohio died September 12, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield following an extended illness. Mr. Campbell was born September 27, 1912 to Charles W. and Martha May Campbell in Holmes Township, Crawford County, Ohio residing in the Mansfield / Lucas area most of his life. He married his wife, Gladys Herre Campbell on August 22, 1932. He retired from White Westinghouse after 39 years of service. After Mr. Campbell retired he was an inventor and lectured at Ohio State University in the Engineering Department. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Gladys Campbell of Lucas, Ohio; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Dorothy and Charles Blum of Galion, Ohio; Charlotte and Hugo Byers of Amherst, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Dottie Campbell of Loudonville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one half sister, Irene Miller of Lykens, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Boyd, Lloyd ''Red'' and Vern Campbell.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services which will be held on Friday September 15, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Brian Dadlow and Rev. Donald Saylor. Military graveside services will be held at Mansfield Cemetery conducted by the Richland County Burial Detail.
