
James Dingus, 64, of Mansfield, died Monday March 17, 2003, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a battle with cancer. Mr. Dingus was born March 16, 1939 in Floyd County, Kentucky residing in the Mansfield area since 1960. He retired from General Motors and attended Taylortown Community Church of Shelby. Mr. Dingus was a veteran of the United States Army. James enjoyed woodworking; he loved his cat and was especially proud of his three step grandsons, who are attending college.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Dailey Dingus of Mansfield; one daughter, Teresa Dingus of Mansfield; four sons and daughters-in-law, James Dingus of Mansfield; Danny and Vickie Dingus of Mansfield; Mitchell and Carol Dingus of Lexington; and Robert 'Bruce' and Jacqueline Dingus of Olivesburg, Ohio; one step daughter and step son-in-law, Sharon and Dennis McNary of Mansfield; one step son, James Buckler Jr. of Lexington; thirteen grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; four brother, Danny Dingus of Kennersville, Indiana; Mitchell Dingus of New Concord, Ohio; Bill Dingus of Columbus, Georgia; and Philip Dingus of South Whitney, Indiana; and four sisters all of Indiana, Nancy Woods; Pat Minnex; Willa Fay Dingus; and Hester Dingus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lacy and Pauline Dingus and his first wife, Shirley Crockett Dingus.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Taylortown Community Church of Shelby. Additional calling hours will be held on Friday after 4:00 p.m. at Globe Funeral Home in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with funeral services being held on Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be held at Stallard Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
