James "Jim" E. Schulte, 77, of Lexington, passed away early Sunday morning, May 24, 2015, at his home. He was born June 12, 1937, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Daniel Henry Schulte and Frieda Camille King Schulte.
He was formerly employed at Westinghouse Corp. and Neer Manufacturing. In his earlier years, he opened the Mid-Ohio Antique Mall which furthered his passion for collecting antiques of all kinds. After his retirement, Jim could be found tinkering in the yard and making his home even more beautiful. He enjoyed going to Las Vegas and finding that winner in his scratch off lottery tickets-a hobby that Jim referred to as "his therapy". His grandchildren were his pride and joy and his face lit up whenever they were around. He had a heart of gold and will be missed deeply by his family and friends.
Jim married his soul mate and best friend, Patricia Burger on February 26, 1988, and they shared 27 glorious years together. In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by three sons, Mike Schulte and Danny (Tammy) Schulte, both of Mansfield and Andy Schulte of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Dee (Lee) Osborne of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Jason (Dottie) Dawson of Ft. Hood, TX, Derek (Christina) Dawson of CO, Kaeli Schulte, Niccole Schulte and Brittany Schulte, all of Mansfield, Gavin Schulte of Butler and Brandi Durig of Lexington; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jalene Dawson; two sisters and a brother.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti will follow at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
