

James A. Moloney, 52, of Mansfield, died early Tuesday morning, July 27, 2004 at his home after a brief illness. Born February 15, 1952, in Crestline to Bryan and Mary Auer Moloney, he was a Mansfield area resident his entire life. He worked at General Motors for 26 years. Jim graduated from St. Peter's Catholic School in 1970, was MVP of the baseball team and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He attended the University of Tennessee Martin where he was an All Conference pitcher and threw a no-hitter and was also a pitcher in the minor leagues in the Atlanta Braves organization. He loved working in his yard and gardening but most cherished being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Darcel Dougherty Moloney; four children, Maureen Moloney, Matthew Moloney, both at home, Brian Hedgecock and Heather Swanson and her husband, Christopher, all of Mansfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Kris Moloney of Mansfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Tom Reindl and Jane and Gary McKean, all of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. His parents preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, July 29 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial plaque at the Franciscan Center.
