
James Colby Sparks, 59, of 412 Vernon Rd. died Monday morning December 10, 2001 at Mifflin Care Center following an extended illness. Mr. Sparks was born September 10, 1942 in Laing, West Virginia residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. He retired from Ideal Electric after 28 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Sparks was a member of the VFW post#3494 and Moose Lodge #341. He used to bowl on the Moose League and for Ideal Electric League at Park Lanes and was also an avid fisherman, fishing mostly in Ohio and Canada.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Sparks of Mansfield; one daughter, Kimberly Teeters of Mansfield; one son, Jeffrey Sparks of Mansfield; two step sons, Larry Mason and Kenneth Thoman both of Mansfield; one step daughter and step-son-in-law, Stacey and Roger Olar of Mansfield; three granddaughters, Amber and Autumn Teeters and Mackenzie Olar; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Edith Sparks of Mansfield; and Gene and Avis Sparks of Bucyrus; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Moleski and a sister-in-law, Linda Johnson both of Akron, New York; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Darlene Moleski of DeBary, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Blanche Gearhart Sparks; one sister, Luella Sparks and a twin brother, Joe Andy Sparks; and two nephews.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday December 12, 2001 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. and also one hour prior to funeral services which will be held at the funeral home on Thursday December 13, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. The Richland County Joint Veterans Council will be conducting Military Services. Burial will be in Sparks Family Cemetery in Kentucky. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to the Diabetes Foundations.
