
Jane Blankenship, 68, of Ashland, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at OSU Medical Center. Born September 9, 1942 in Ashland, she was the daughter of Gordon and Mabelle Wachs Smith. Jane was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and Mansfield Business College. A member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, she also worked there as an administrative assistant for eight years. On November 9, 1963 she married the late Charles R. Blankenship. In her spare time Jane enjoyed working in her garden, painting, time spent with friends where they often played cards, and her basset hound, Corkey.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Roger Cook of Ashland; grandchildren, Samantha Kyle Meadows and Charles Emmalee Huff, both of Columbus; great granddaughters, Emalie and Kylie Meadows; sister-in-law, Vi Veach of Loudenville; and good friends Judy and Earl Washburn and Carolyn and Curtis Vandine, both of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Friends may call Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Dawn Donato and Pastor Carl Cunfur. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery.
