Janet Shaffer

Janet Marie Foley Shaffer, 70, of Lucas, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at her residence following a yearlong battle with lung and brain cancer. Born January 27, 1939, in Shelby, she was the daughter of Nick and Anna Muntcine Foley. She was a 1957 graduate of Shelby High School and had been employed at Tappan Stove Company and Powell Supply Company.

Surviving are her husband, John M. Shaffer whom she married October 5, 1963; two brothers, John Foley of Shelby and Robert Foley of Mansfield; a sister, Shirley Foley of Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Lehnhart of Lucas and Eleanor Shaffer of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Father Keith McCormack of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
