Janet Shaffer

Janet Sturgill Shaffer, age 66, of Mansfield, died December 20, 2003, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening. She was born in Elliot County, Ky. March 29, 1937 to William and Gladys Tackett Sturgill, living in the Mansfield area for the past fifty years. Janet attended the First Weslyan Church. She was a loving, caring and giving person with a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bruce and Kathey Shaffer of Bellville, Ohio, Joseph and Bronwen Shaffer of Lucas, Ohio and Chris Shaffer of Erie, Pa.; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Lisa Stone of Mansfield, OH and Cynthia and Brian Dickerson of Apple Valley, OH; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Avis Oyler of Mansfield, Ohio, Opal Leathem of Vista, Ca. and Mary Goldberg of Palmdale, Ca.; eight nieces and seven nephews and her prayer partner Susie Spade. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Mose F. Shaffer, her parents and a sister, Esta Taylor. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at 7:00 pm at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors by Rev. Keith Carlisle. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Services will also be conducted at the Malone Funeral Home, Grayson, Ky., on Friday, December 26, 2003 at 1:00 pm where friends may call two hours prior to services from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Cribbs Hill Cemetery at Grayson, Ky. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Weslyan Church in Mansfield, Ohio.
