Janice Wilkerson

She was born August 15, 1953 in Pella, Iowa and graduated in 1971 from Ottumwa High School. Janice attended Iowa State University and received a Bachelor Degree from Mt. Mercy College. She later received her Master Degree from Bowling Green State University. Janice worked for many years as the unit manager in several men's correctional facilities. She retired from the Department of Youth Services and created the "Step System" they use today.

Janice was a very kind, genuinely caring woman who would do anything possible to help others. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by three brothers, Bob (Ann) Wilkerson of Ottumwa, IA and Norm (Sandy) Wilkerson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dan (Kim) Wilkerson of North Liberty, IA; a sister, Cindy (William Wall) Wilkerson-Wall of Minnetonka, MN; parents, Shirley and Edward Wilkerson of Ottumwa, IA; son, Aaron Wilkerson of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Melanie, Nikholas and Keynen; and special friend, Mike Trent. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Wilkerson; and sister-in-law, Natalie Wilkerson.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, followed by a memorial service conducted by Rev. George Reece at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
