
Jay Wesley Harriman, 85, of Ontario, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Rosewood Manor. Born January 13, 1922 in Shelby, he was the son of Charles Wilson and Clara Edna Taylor Harriman. Mr. Harriman graduated from Springfield Township High School in 1940. He retired from Harriman and Roth Plumbing and Heating. Mr. Harriman was also an area farmer and worked in maintenance at Gorman Rupp. He attended the First Assembly of God. He was a member of the Richland County Camera Club, a lifetime member of Springfield Township Fire Department, Mohican Valley Air Stream Unit, and Richland Roamers Trailer Club. He was a poll worker for many years and also central committeeman for Springfield Township, precinct A. Mr. Harriman enjoyed visiting others and riding in his golf cart.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Sheryl Harriman of Ontario; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Lawrence Bixler of Ontario; five grandchildren, Julie, Laura, Matt, Jeff, and Greg; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, George Harriman of Shelby; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ruth Orewiler and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula in 1998, and his parents.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with additional calling hours from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Thomas Blair and Rev. Brent Salyers. Burial will follow in Ontario Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Township Fire Department.
