Jean Irwin

Jean A. Irwin, 89, of Ashland, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Samaritan Regional Health Care System. Born May 20, 1919, in Lorain, she was the daughter of Sidney L. and Bess Z. Fish Welch. A homemaker, she was a member of the Polk United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Sullivan Chapter.

Surviving are two sons, Alan Sherry Irwin of Naples, FL and Terry Dotty Irwin of Ashland; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burl Hartsel Irwin on January 24, 1999, whom she married on February 4, 1940; a brother, Neal Welch; a half sister, Lola McPeek; and her step-mother, Helen Welch.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors where Eastern Star services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Cheryl Roshon. Burial will follow in Polk Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Polk United Methodist Church.
