Jeanette "Jan" C. Laney, 55, of Shiloh, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Samaritan Regional Health System. She had battled Multiple Sclerosis for 10 years. She was born March 28, 1959, in Fort Knox, Kentucky,
Jan graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1978. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting ceramic items. Jan was the one in control of any situation and wasn't afraid to express her opinion when she felt it was needed. She was a very determined woman, and once she set her mind to something, she would see it through to the end. Jan was a nurturing woman and thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. An enjoyable activity for her throughout the years was watching cartoons. Her most recent hobby was playing Bingo with her many new friends. Her family was most important to her and she would listen excitedly to all the family stories being told, and share a few herself.
Jan faithfully attended the Apostolic Faith Assembly and the Lord was always on her mind. She was devout in living a life honoring Christ and found comfort in listening to Gospel music.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, David Dean Laney; children, Sherry (Chad) Finley and Matthew Laney; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Noah and Micah Finley; mother, Mary Wagoner Lunsford; three siblings, Charles (Cheryl) Lunsford, Helen Baxley and Jake Lunsford; a niece, Kristen Baxley; and numerous other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father, Harold W. Lunsford.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Apostolic Faith Assembly Church, 258 Stadium St., Mansfield with Pastor Robert O'Brian officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a trust fund for her son, Matthew.
