Jeanne B. Nuhfer

Jeanne B. Nuhfer, 90, of Mansfield, passed away shortly after midnight on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was born November 2, 1926, in Mansfield, Ohio, one of five children of the late Clark William Brook and Marjorie Rudolph Brook.

Jeanne was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Her joyful, friendly personality was a perfect fit for her career as a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward where she worked for 30 years. Gatherings with family and friends were an occasion she looked forward to with great anticipation. Jeanne's thoughtfulness was evident in her acknowledgment of everyone's birthday. You could always count on receiving a card from her to celebrate your special days.

After her retirement, Jeanne lived in Frostproof, Florida for over 20 years, returning to Mansfield in 2009 to be near her children. She enjoyed reading mysteries and solving crossword puzzles. Jeanne was a long time member of Una Wives.

She is survived by five children, Marjorie (Kevin) Shearer, Judy (Lawrence) Kunkle and Donald (Carol) Newton, all of Lexington, Daniel Newton of Mansfield, and Robert (Linda) Newton of Lexington; two daughters-in-law, Kathy Maneese of Mansfield and Cameron Maneese of Wooster; six step children, Kathryn (John) Wojtanik, Carol (Chuck) Jordan, Patricia (Bob) Pratt, Frank (Cheryl) Nuhfer, Robert (Margaret) Nuhfer and Ronald (Linda) Nuhfer; three grandchildren, Shane E. Shearer, Christopher A. Shearer and Carver C. Maneese; forty-five step grandchildren; seventy-eight great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Eyerly of Mansfield and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy T. Nuhfer, Robert J. Newton and William Maneese; sons, William and Keith Maneese; two step daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra (Al) Barnish and Darlene Nuhfer; brother and sister-in-law, Clark (Pat) Brook; and two sisters, Dianne Roberts and Betty Dickson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marilou Brook officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
