Jessie Van Auker

Jessie Eldred Pruett Van Auker, 88, of Mansfield, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born September 7, 1921 in Honaker, Virginia, she was the daughter of Archie Lee and Maude Ellen Griffith Pruett. She retired as director of nursing at McCaulley Care Center. Jessie was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church where she had been very active over the years. A very faithful Christian woman, she loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Diane Van Auker of Springfield, and Jerry and Cathy Van Auker of Ontario; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Brad Chochola of Hudson; six grandchildren, Meg, Eric, Rachel, Anna, Amy, and Lori Derek; three great-grandchildren, Cody, Camden, and Sydney; sister, Le Snider; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Jane Pruett of Centerburg; sister-in-law, Monna Pruett of Mt. Vernon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; daughter, Carol Ann; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Albert Toth; brother, Cecil Pruett; and brother-in-law, Jack Snider.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1262 Ashland Rd., Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Bonnie Peltomaa, where friends may also call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
