Born in Jellico, Tennessee, Jimmy was the son of James and Dorothy Reynolds Carroll. He carried with him the values of hard work, kindness, and humility throughout his life.
Jimmy dedicated many years of service as a purchaser for Guenther Plumbing and Heating. He also proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, a role that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism.
For the past fifty years, Jimmy called Mansfield home, where he built a life centered on his family and community. He will be remembered for his friendly smile, generous heart, and caring spirit. Whether lending a helping hand or sharing a story with a friend, Jimmy made those around him feel welcomed and valued.
Jimmy had a lifelong passion for racecars, especially late model and Sprint race cars, and found great joy in spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed watching and cheering for his son at the modified races. He was rarely one to sit still, embracing an active life and appreciating the simple pleasures that each day brought. Of all life's blessings, none brought him greater happiness than his beloved grandchildren, whose laughter and love filled his heart with immeasurable joy.
A man of unwavering faith, Jimmy was baptized, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and attended St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church. His steadfast devotion to God guided the way he lived—with compassion, integrity, and love for others.
Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 44 years, Sandra Carroll; his daughter, Randi-Jo (David) Withrow; his five sons, Jimmy Carroll, Jr., Thomas Tackett, Michael (Laura) Carroll, James Aaron (Sheryl) Carroll, and Jeffrey (Tara) Carroll; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his half sister, Junie Williams; his aunt, Betty McCallahan; his sister-in-law, Linda Counts; his brothers-in-law, Richard Counts and Glenn Lawson; several nieces and nephews; many cousins; and his faithful canine companion, Miss Bella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Carroll, and his siblings, Shirley Lawson, Patty Chadwell, JoAnne Wilson; half siblings, Betty Badgero, Frank Smiddy, and Sunny Carroll.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to David and Randi-Jo, Trinity and Channing, and Jodi Mumaw for their loving care shown to Jimmy during his illness.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Mansfield Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad.
