

John Lee Mortimer, 76, of Mansfield, died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born December 23, 1936, he was the son of Andrew and Anna (Seifert) Mortimer. John was a gracious man with a wonderful soul. He took joy in donating to various charities. He was a car enthusiast and worked as an auto body painter at Roger Au, Inc. for many years. John also enjoyed cooking using his mother's favorite recipes. No one left his home without being well fed. Of all things about John, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family the most. This "grumpy old man" will be greatly missed by his wife, grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife, Rosellen (Brown) Mortimer; son, Andrew (Brandy) Mortimer of Mansfield and his children, Trenton and Brayden Mortimer; step daughter, Barbara Weixel, and her children, Jack (Sarah) Weixel and his son, Hayden David Weixel of Denver, Jefferson (Cassiopia) Weixel and his son, Walter Scott Weixel of Ontario, Grant Weixel of Durham, NC, and Angela Weixel of Columbus; sister, Bette Clay of Mansfield; brothers, Robert (Connie) Mortimer of Cincinnati and Harold (Beverly) Mortimer of Mansfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Richard Mortimer and sister, Marjorie Sampsel.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
