
John D. Newcomb, 67, of Ashland County, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 26, 2005 at his home. Born September 19, 1937 in Ashland, he was the son of Harold F. and Lucille Fenderick Newcomb. He served in the Ohio Air National Guard. Mr. Newcomb retired from Archway Bakery after 30 years of service. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also served as a Milton Township Trustee for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wanda Newcomb; three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Cheryl Newcomb of Minot, North Dakota, Mark and Sharon Newcomb of Granville, Ohio and Bryon and Laurie Newcomb of Burlington, Iowa; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Ken and Marie Beddow of Lexington, Ohio; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Robert Lanham of Craigsville, West Virginia; 13 grandchildren, John, David, Travis, Heather, Ashley, Tim, Cody, Angela, Melissa, Becky, Katelyn, Nicholas, and Alexander; four great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Debbie Newcomb of Mansfield; and one niece, Stacey. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Christina.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral Friday, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ashland County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
