I have just lost recently,  I know the pain that the loss of a loved one brings into life.  I will always remember Steve, and a little of Tom from Bedford Blvd.  Bob was a little too old for me.  I remember all those board games you had.  I was so jealous!!!  Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your father and your husband.

John was my friend, co-worker, boss, mentor & so much more during the 14 years I worked with him at the Marion Community Credit Union. He taught me so much with his great sense of humor and meticulous way of checking all the details. When I first started as a teller, whenever something stopped working or I needed help, I would yell, "John!" He would sometimes growl and grumble but he would always come over and help. I soon learned from him that I generally hadn't broken anything I just needed to stop and check it out before I yelled. Most of the time I could figure it out after having had watched him do it before. I think I even amazed him a few times because I sometimes even figured it out before he did. He was like another grandpa for my daughter Ashlee because she grew up coming into the credit union about once a week and she always wanted to see her "Johnnie". He and Jeane attended Stacey and my wedding and were there for Ashlee's graduation party. There is no doubt he had a significant impact on my adult life as he & Vidya helped me to grow in my potential with the credit union. I will always have fond memories of the things he taught me and the things I talked him into. For several years our credit union staff and volunteers raised money for the Cancer Stereo-thon here in Marion. I even got John to take a whipped cream pie to the face to help raise money. He loved to talk about his family and about his days as a Boy Scout Leader. He said the best age to work with were the young teenagers because they were so honest and didn't tend to have attitudes. He was always telling us stories about his previous Boy Scouts and the things they said and did. He loved talking about Steve & his kitties, Tom and his family with his many projects and Bob - the really smart one in the family. I used to tease him that it was a wonder that he ever knew what to do with Jeane since he always seemed to be hanging out with guys. I know that his grandchildren: Adam, Vanessa and Benjamin were a great source of pride for him and Jeane both. We even got to see Adam a few times over the years when he came into the office. He certainly was the spitting image of his grandpa. Let's just hope he hasn't turned out as onery! John would tell us about some of the stuff he got into when he was a kid such as setting off a bottle rocket in their driveway and leaving a hole there he had to explain to his Dad. He certainly was very smart and I am sure that is what got him into trouble more than anything other than his curiosity.
I will close this by saying how sorry I am to hear that the world has lost someone who gave so much to others. I know that he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. I wish I had taken time to keep in more frequent contact. I am truely sorry for your loss...

I knew John through some of his years at the Marion Community Credit Union.  He was amazing and when I lost my father-in-law he was amazing in how he worked with my time off.  His concern for me was first before the job and that meant the world to me and I will never forget it.  He was amazing...great sense of humor...when I saw him at our Christmas potlucks after he retired he would always say to me "I haven't seen any emails from purplesuz lately" we would laugh and talk. I knew John through Boy Scout Troop 117.  He was a very dedicated scout master, who the boys looked up to. Over the years he guided numerous boys to achieve scouting's highest rank of Eagle. I remember many camp outs and summer trips that John organized. My sons and I all enjoyed our scouting experiences with John.
