John Schwaner

John O. Schwaner, 64, of Ashland died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, December 24, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born July 29, 1939, in Yugoslavia to Philipp and Kristina Vogel Schwaner. John was a Mansfield area resident from 1950-1995, and then moved to Ashland. He was employed as a glazer with JB Acoustical. He was an organ donor. He attended Wyandotte Freewill Baptist Church. Although a humble man, he always watched out for anyone he would come in contact with and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beverly S. Schwaner; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Pat Stimmell, Jenny and Tim Echelberger, and Sherri and Chris Jones, all of Ashland; three granddaughters; six grandsons; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Christine Koehler, and son, John Oscar Schwaner, Jr.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, December 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to funeral services to be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Brian Phillips. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mifflin Township/Ashland Volunteer Fire Department.
