

John started his first meat market in Belgrade after completing his apprenticeship which he began at age 12. He fought in WWII in Europe, and moved to the United States in 1950. He opened his own business, Weidle's Meats in 1956 and worked there until his retirement.
John enjoyed vegetable gardening, especially growing peppers. A very hard working man, he provided well for his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. John was a founding member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching soccer and was a strong supporter of the Mansfield Liederkranz Soccer teams.
He is survived by two daughters, Lilli (Karl) Hassmann and Linda (Jim) Goode, both of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Rob (Joni) Hassmann of Mansfield, Christopher (Melissa) Hassmann of Mansfield, Sarah Goode (fiancé, Paul Graham) of Ashland, David Goode of Chicago and Lyndsay (Mark) Panzeca of Cincinnati; great-grandchildren, Morgan (fiancé, Derek Bochnak) Hassmann, Abbey and Ryan Hassmann, C.J., Joshua and Davis Hassmann, Liana, Max and Marissa Panzeca; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in September 1990; three sisters; and two brothers.
A memorial service conducted by Pastor Renato Siewert will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 371 Central Avenue, Mansfield, OH 44905.
