
John M. Woolum, Jr., age 30, of Mansfield died Monday, May 31, 2004. He was born September 20, 1973, in Morrow County to John Woolum, Sr. and Clara Miller. He was employed as a landscaper at Hattery and Chatlain Nursery and at the Juvenile Detention Center in Ashland. He attended Crossroads Community Church and volunteered with the Sea Cadets. John also volunteered in New York City during the 9/11 tragedy and on the anniversary, he stood on Lexington Avenue and waved a flag for hours. He loved to write poetry, hunt, fish and read the Bible.
He is survived by his mother, Clara Miller of Mansfield; father and stepmother, John Sr. and Phyllis Woolum of Falls of Rough, Kentucky; son, Cody Isaac Urie Woolum and his mother, Kristie Hollsinger; two sisters, Carla Ann Shade of Shelby and Stacey Staten of Chillicothe; grandmother, Sylvia Miller of Mansfield; six uncles and their spouses, Robert and Brenda Miller and family of Mt. Gilead, Raymond and Joy Miller and family of Mansfield, and Ed and JoAnn Hershey and family of Lexington, Gene and Pat Woolum and family of Jackson, Little Allen and Lisa Woolum and family of Patriot, Calvin and Brenda Woolum and family of Dayton; and three aunts and their spouses, Linda and Allen Hill and family, Becky and Tim and family, all of Jackson, and Barb and Jim Osborn and family of Columbus. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his best friends, Rich Yoxtheimer, David Barker, Rosemary Harsney and many more. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Garnett Woolum, George Woolum, and Urie Miller.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, June 3 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor John Miller.
