Born on February 17, 1949, in Mansfield, Ohio, Joe was the second of two children born to Joseph and Mary Massa. Joe grew up in Mansfield, Ohio and graduated from Malabar High School. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. Joe was the founder and co-owner of Vend Works and Dove Vending. He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping his children with many of their home renovation projects. He enjoyed spending time camping, being by the water, and at his favorite beaches in Florida. During his spare time, he enjoyed bird watching and spending time with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan (Leonard) Massa; his children, Joseph Scott Massa (Kelly), Stephanie LeMaster (Manfred), and Sarah Liscano; his grandchildren, Justin Massa (Amber), Tommy Massa, Hewitt Liscano, and Louisa Liscano; his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Julian and Ophelia Massa; his sibling, Claudia Gallagher; and numerous family members.
Visitation will be held at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S Diamond St, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Friday October 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St Peter’s Catholic Church, 60 Mulberry St, Mansfield. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans or US War Dogs Association. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the Massa family.
