

Joseph F. Mitsch, 86, of Mansfield, died Friday February 11, 2005 at Oak Grove Manor after a brief illness. Born June 23, 1918 in Mansfield, he was the son of Frank and Margaret Hallas Mitsch. He retired from White-Westinghouse and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mr. Mitsch was a member of Frauk H. Marquis Lodge #690 F & AM, Chapter #28 Royal Arch Masons, and Grand Council Royal and Select Masons Mansfield Council #94. He was also a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Al Koran Shrine, Mansfield Shrine Club, Baku Grotto, Clan #16 Grand and Glorious Order of Hillbillys, Knights Templar Cmmandery #21, Westinghouse-White Employees Association, Life Member Amvets #26, life member of VFW 9943, Loyal Order of the Moose, Mansfield Liederkranz, AARP, and IUEW local #711. Mr. Mitsch served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater 37th Divistion.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Foncannon Mitsch; son, Joseph Mitsch of Columbus; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Sam Williams of Lexington, and Suzanne Heaberlin of Mansfield; step son and daughter-in-law, Bryce and Sandra Pugh of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two special grandchildren, Andy Romoser and Melissa Compton; and seven other grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Catherine M. Hallabrin of Mansfield; and special young friend, George Payton of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Frank Mitsch, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2005 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Father Herb Weber officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the funeral home with Masonic Services being held at 2:30 p.m. Full military graveside honors will be in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery on Thursday February 17 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Monsignor Dunn Foundation or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
