Joseph Subich

Joseph Subich, age 77, of Mansfield, died Saturday morning at his residence. Mr. Subich  was born February 26, 1922 in Mansfield and was a life long resident. Mr. Subich was retired and had worked in the Laundry Engineering Department at Westinghouse Corp. and owned/operated a Laundromat in Lexington, Ohio and was part owner of Olympic Footwear in West Park Shopping Center. Mr. Subich was a member of The First Congregational Church, a graduate of Ashland College and received his Master's Degree from The Ohio State University. He was a member of Marquis Lodge #690 F. & A.M., Baku Grotto, a former secretary for the Mansfield Shrine Club, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. Mansfield Chapter #28 R.A.M., Mansfield Council #94 R.&S.M., Mansfield Commandery #21 K.T., Ruth Chapter #17 O.E.S. and Rotary Club. He was active in the Republican Party, a former member of Mansfield City Council and was a avid golfer and bowler. Mr. Subich was a veteran of the US Army serving with Merrill's Mauraders during WWII in India, Burma and China.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Hockett Subich of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law; Joseph T. and Kay Subich of Orlando, Florida and Dr. David C. and Sherrise Subich of Mansfield, two daughters, Sue M. Subich of Mt Gilead, Ohio and Polly Subich of Ashland, Ohio; five grandchildren, Aaron, Josh, and Hannah Subich of Mansfield, Christopher and Kyle Subich of Florida; one brother, Frank Subich of Mansfield, one sister, Helen Au of Mansfield and one sister-in-law, Cecile Subich of Mansfield. Mr. Subich was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Susanna Remllong Subich and one brother, Nick Subich.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday January 4, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Congregational Church conducted by his pastor, Rev. David Root. Inurnment will be in the columbarium of First Congregational Church. The family will receive friends in Blymyer Hall following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of First Congregational Church or to The Salvation Army.
