
Joseph Woolever, 77, of Mansfield, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Mifflin Care Center. Born August 5, 1932 in Aiken, Minnesota, he was the son of Joseph and Lillie Mae Woolever. He served in the U.S. Army. He received his Bachelor's in Education from Southeastern Bible College and his Master's of Education from Bowling Green State University. He retired from Mansfield City Schools as a teacher at Newman Elementary. A very caring and creative man, he was never afraid to try things and was constantly working. Joseph was a member of First Assembly of God where he had been a commander in the Royal Rangers, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marjorie Stickley Woolever; three sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Tressa Woolever of Delaware, Edwin Woolever of Columbus, and Andrew and Raeghan Woolever of Mineral City; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Charles Peak of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Jason, Ashlee, and Mattie Gail Woolever, and Alyssa and Sarah Peak; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Willis Hewitt of St. Augustine, Florida, Sylvia Hawkins of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Margaret and Simon Stull of Fredrick, Maryland; sister-in-law, Audrey Ward of England; and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyde Woolever; two sisters-in-law, Florence Gill, and Frances Peacock; and brother-in-law, Alfred Ward.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Assembly of God, 1000 McPherson St., Mansfield conducted by Rev. Thomas Blair. Burial will take place at a later date in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
