Joshua D. Bowers, 27, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born September 26, 1990, in Warren, Ohio, but grew up in Florida.
Josh was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, excelled through boot camp and had plans to return and complete his training. A gifted athlete who excelled at all sports, he enjoyed playing football, lacrosse, baseball and hockey and also coached youth lacrosse. Josh was brave, strong and courageous and was a brother to many who wanted one.
He enjoyed spending his free time at the beach, going to festivals and concerts, and fishing. Josh easily made friends and often became a source of strength and stability to others. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Josh lived life to the fullest and expressed his love to family and friends freely. He joyfully shared his beautiful smile and always looked to the bright side of any given situation.
Josh is survived by his mother, Dawn Macaluso; father, Derek Bowers (Phyllis Vercelli); sisters, Shelbey Bowers and Crystal Bowers; grandmother, Jane Keyes; uncles, Joe (Kathy) Macaluso, Gregg Macaluso and Duane Bowers; and ten Macaluso cousins. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Tony and Reita Macaluso, David Bowers and Brady Keyes; uncles, Chris Macaluso, Howard Wilson and Kim Macaluso; and cousin, Luke Macaluso.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, March 25, 2018, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Backroom Bar and Grill, 880 Laver Rd., Mansfield, Ohio. An additional gathering will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at The Palmetto Club at FishHawk Ranch, 17004 Dorman Rd, Lithia, FL.
