Joyce Sutherland

Joyce Ann Sutherland, age 68, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 31, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born July 23, 1943 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Newton and Margorie (Snipes) Bays.

Joyce moved to Mansfield when she was 9 years old. She met and married her loving husband, Roger L. Sutherland at First Assembly of God Church in Mansfield. Joyce worked and retired from Therm-O-Disc after 40 years of service. Her hobbies included auction, garage sales and taking long drives in the country-which she enjoyed very much. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but her greatest love was the Lord.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Roger L. Sutherland; daughter, Coletta R. (John) Knight of Mansfield; son, Brent E. (Nikki) Sutherland of Fredericktown; sister, Sue (Rev. Billy) Burr of Dallas, TX; brothers, Billy and Ebb Bays of Olive Hill, KY, Gary (Carol) Bays of Mansfield, Ricky Bays of Mansfield, Jimmy Dale Noser of NC, and Joe Noser of Mansfield; cousins, Barb Harris and Wanda Schaffer, both of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Ashley C. Knight, Kassi, Grant and Haven; two great-grandchildren, Ashton M. and Addisan N. Knight; two aunts of Olive Hill, KY; and many more family and friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Newton Bays and Margorie Noser; uncles, Ted and Lilly; numerous aunts and cousins; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Dewey Sutherland.

Friends and family may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
