Julia Schaffer

Julia A. Schaffer, 83, of Mansfield died unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 1, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield. Mrs. Schaffer was born September 8, 1918 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all her life. She was a former employee of Westinghouse Corporation and retired from the Ontario School System after 21 years. She attended Ontario Christian Fellowship. Julia was a devoted, loving, caring mom who was generous to all who knew her. She loved life, flowers, gardening and all her critters. She was known for her delicious pies. Julia will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara & Thomas McGuire of Lexington and Patricia & Dale Powers of Ontario; a grandson and spouse, Mike & Adrien McGuire of Westerville, Ohio; and a sister, Esther Merkle of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Julia Bauer Ziegler; her husband, John Schaffer, August 20, 1993, whom she married May 24, 1942; four brothers, John, Matthew, Robert and Albert Ziegler; and three sisters, Elizabeth Keller, Eva Deschner and an infant sister.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 3, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Joe Peery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
