

Karen was born May 23, 1952 to Howard Vance Sr. and Queen Esther Valentine-Vance in Mansfield, Ohio and remained a lifelong resident. She matriculated through the Mansfield City School system culminating with graduation from Mansfield Sr. High in 1970. She was employed by the former General Motors CPC / Mansfield Stamping Plant for 32 years as a Press Operator and working in the Carpentry Shop where she retired from in 2009.
Karen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on December 27, 1987 at the Christ Temple Church of Mansfield Ohio Inc. under the leadership of her late Pastors Berthrand and Minnie Glenn where she served faithfully in the ministry on the usher board, choir, taught Sunday school, and served as an armor-bearer. She also served as the Superintendent of the Sunday School Department and as the Church Mother. She received her Evangelist License in 1998 from the COGIC Ohio North First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under State Supervisor Mother Sarah Thompson and Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop William Morgan James to minister and teach the word of God remaining in good standing under the current leadership of State Supervisor Mother Thelma Giles-Butts and Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop Edward T. Cook and First Lady Sheila T. Cook.
Karen united in Holy matrimony October 14, 1997 to Elder Caesar Coney. Together leading the ministry at the Christ Temple Church of Mansfield Ohio Inc. She leaves to cherish her, her husband of 23 years, Pastor Caesar Coney; son, LeAndre (Porsha) Coney; daughters, Andrea Coney and Laconia James-Ross; five grandchildren, Chantel and Chelsea Ross, Kinzley, London, and Braxton Coney; siblings, Elder Carrell Gandy, Evangelist Catherine Vance, Howard Vance Jr., Rebecca Vance, Leslie Vance, Prophet Michael (Rhonda) Vance, Patrick (Evangelist Epper Harris) Vance, Ramona Vance and Jay (Lora) Vance, and brother in love Terre Carter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father in love, Caesar Coney; two sisters, Linda Diane Vance and Danita Carter.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Robert Exten and the staff of Ohio Health Services, Dr. James Chen, the staff of OSU Wexner Medical Center, and Hospice of North Central Ohio for their loving and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends at their home December 14-16, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. - 1: 00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. daily till the day of the service. Cards and condolences can be sent to 1165 Yorkwood Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44907.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends, with Pastor Aaron Williams Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery. Please notice that Covid-19 protocol of mandatory facial coverings and social distancing will be conducted.
