

Kathryn Mae Menzel, nee Robinson, 84, of Mansfield died March 2, 2014. Born December 11, 1929 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Alfred and Charlotte (Berlo) Robinson. Kathryn graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1947. She was named Woman of the Year by the News Journal in 1981. Kathryn was a member of First Congregational Church, and a Stephen Minister. Known as an active volunteer with many civic endeavors, Kathryn volunteered for the YWCA Board, Mansfield Hospital Auxiliary, Mansfield Art Center, Red Cross Bloodmobile, Girl Scouts, Malabar Band Haunted House, Johnny Appleseed Questers Antique Club, Ranchwood School Library, and Westbrook Country Club. She also served as Secretary and Board Member of Mansfield/Richland County Humane Society, Volunteer Director and Board Member for the Rehab Center, President of Rehab Auxilary, and Chairperson of Rehab Center Town Roast. Kathryn was a member of Altrusa Club, a Charter Member and President of Rotary Anns, Founder of Bud & Blossom Garden Club, and past Board Member of Mansfield Federation for Women. She also served for several years as Director of RSVP program at Mansfield Memorial Homes.
Surviving are her husband, Howard G. Menzel; daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Tinkey of Chicago, IL; son, John (Barbara) Menzel of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alfred Robinson, Jr. and William Robinson; and sister, Jean Robinson.
A gathering will be held Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 640 Millsboro Rd., Mansfield, OH 44906. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church, 640 Millsboro Rd., Mansfield, OH 44903.
