
Kathryn Preston, 90, of Mansfield died early Friday morning, December 28, 2001 at her home after a long illness. Kathryn was born May 19, 1911, in Patrick, Kentucky to Sam and Sarah Meade. She married James I. Preston on August 15, 1930 who preceded her in death in 1971. Kathryn lived through WWI, the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918, the Great Depression, and WWII. She survived the agonies of flu, small pox, wars and the deaths of her family members; one, which almost took her in despair in 1971. Through it all, she was a joy to talk with and her eyes sparkled when she recounted events in her life and triumphs over the 'hard times'. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Kathryn was a member of the Mansfield East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Hagar & Rosie Preston of New Carlisle, Ohio and retired Mansfield firefighter, Charlie & Lenore Preston; one daughter and son-in-law, Laquita & Thomas Wagner of Circleville, Ohio; sister, Gertrude Elkins of White House, Kentucky still survives at 101 years of age; one daughter-in-law, Katie Preston of Gallatin, Tenn.; nine grandsons, Jeff, David, Darren, Brian, Allen, and Aaron Preston, Tony, Tim, and Tracey Wagner; three granddaughters, Lisa Dillon, Jody Jackson, and Crickett Webb; a number of great- and great-great-grandchildren as well as many others who called her 'Grandma'. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, William Everett Preston, five brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday, December 30 from 3-6 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Monday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Harry W. Morr. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
