Katie West

Katie M. Perdue-West, 56, formerly of Mansfield, died Monday, October 20, 2003 at Henry Ford Medical Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She was born November 24, 1946 in Jonesboro, Georgia to Walter and Alice Williams Perdue. She was a resident of Detroit, Michigan for the past 30 years. Katie held several jobs early in life, and then chose to become a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Roscoe West, Jr.; a son, Steven Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Ann 'Lil' Perdue of Mansfield; an aunt, Sarah Norwood of Jonesboro, Georgia; god-daughter, Neko Mathis; god-granddaughter, Charmaine Mathis; four sisters-in-law and their spouses, Sadie Perdue of Mansfield, Margaret Hawkins of Columbus, Ohio, Joyce Bobby Williams of Alliance, Ohio and Reda Jacques Pierre of Acworth, Georgia; eight brothers-in-law and their spouses, James Virginia West Sr. of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Chester Barbara of Dallas, Texas, Michael of Daytona, Florida, Marvin of Columbus, Ohio, Robert of Akron, Ohio, Larry, Frank and Sylvestor all of Alliance, Ohio; special nephew, Ivory D. Perdue; and special friends, Linda Brown and Anita Johnson of Detroit. She was preceded in death by her parents; Walter Sr. and Alice Perdue; and three brothers, Walter Jr., Floyd and James Perdue Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Bobby Williams of Alliance, will be held Monday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Ann Lil Perdue, 501 Louise Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio. Calling hours will be held, Saturday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Barksdale Funeral Home, 1120 E. State Fair, Detroit, Michigan.
