Kay A. Hemperly

Kay A. Hemperly, 79, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away at her home on Friday, January 15, 2021 under hospice care after a long courageous fight with cancer. Her battle with three separate forms of cancer over the years shows how much of a strong-willed woman and true warrior she was. She was born in Shiloh, Ohio on July 29, 1941 to the late William and Ellen (McConeghy) Willet.

She married her lifelong soulmate, Jerry, on March 16, 1963 whom she spent 52 years with before his passing. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who brought her so much joy with each and every visit. Kay had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Rocky, and before his passing, enjoyed spending time with him. She liked quilting, sewing, reading, gardening and canning food. She loved being in the country and rocking in her rocking chair. Kay retired from United Telephone Company/Sprint. Kay was a member at Freedom Ridge Church.

Kay is survived by her children, Tim Hemperly of Sandusky and Gail Meyers of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Michelle Enix (Bryan Gifford) of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Marie (Rob) Fouts of Mansfield, Ashley Meyers (Jimmy Morrison) of Columbus, Brandon Meyers, Isaiah Margheim and Logan Hemperly both of Sandusky, Elizabeth and Mason Enix; great-grandson, Oliver Fouts; sisters, Mary Ellen Nolder and Linda Swiger; and several extended family members whom she thought of as her own children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Hemperly; son, Mark Enix; and brother, Jim Willet.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. A service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Viscioni officiating.
