
Keith G. Evans, 73, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Wedgewood Estates, Mansfield, after a long illness. Born March 13, 1936, he was the son of Donald and Mary Casto Evans, who had lived in Mt. Gilead. He graduated from Mt. Gilead High School and was a member of First Baptist Church. Keith later moved to Ashland and attended Ashland College where he earned his BA for teaching. He then taught at Nankin and Crestline Schools before he finished his teaching career at Ontario Schools. Keith was a favorite teacher at Ontario Schools where he taught for several years, and retired from teaching. He enjoyed coaching basketball and teaching his students. Keith helped develop Summer Recreation at Ontario Schools. He will be dearly missed by all the students and individuals whose lives he touched during his teaching career. He also attended Durham University and Xavier University in his quest for additional education. He loved history. Keith was never idle, and was involved in building after his retirement from teaching. After teaching, Keith built several homes in the area and became an all around handyman as well. Keith loved his family, and spent many enjoyable vacations with them at the Outer Banks. He loved traveling with his wife, fishing, and boating. He was a member of Ontario Free Methodist Church.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Kenneth Evans.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda M. Stewart Evans; children and their spouses, James L. and Beth Evans Webster of Galion, Jane Evans Fox, Neal Stamper, both of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Keith and Wendy Evans of Ontario, Scott Evans, and Brigette Burnell, both of Mt. Gilead; four grandchildren, James R. and Elizabeth Webster, and Alexander and Mackenzie Evans; and one great-grandson, James D. Webster.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Ontario Free Methodist Church conducted by Jim Walker. Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario Free Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, or MedCentral Hospice.
