
Kelly V. Lewis, 66, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a courageous 5 ½ year battle with Myleodysplastic Syndrome. Born June 18, 1940 in Blaze, Kentucky, he was the son of Carlie and Nellie Hunt Lewis. He retired from Armco-AK Steel after 34 years. Mr. Lewis attended Hillside Church of God. He was a member and Past Master of the Shiloh Masonic Lodge #544 and Past President of the Local 169th Retiree Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing cards. Deepest appreciation and thank you to all his caregivers in the short term care unit and 4 west A at MedCentral Hospital. A special thank you to his friend and doctor, Dr. Das and doctors and staff at Ohio Cancer Specialist.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anoka Jane Henderson Lewis; two daughters and son-in-law, Jane W. and Mike Bauer of Mansfield, and Rebecca A. Lewis and Ed McCabe of Medina; son, Darin L. Lewis and Peggy Johnson of Mansfield; grandsons and their spouses, Timothy L. and Jessica Lewis, Jackson O. Lewis, Gary T. Lewis, Matthew Kelly Bauer, and Jarod M. Bauer; great-grandsons, Bryson, Jacob, and Elijah Lewis; two brothers and sister-in-law, Monroe and Carol Lewis, and Joe Lewis, all of Mansfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, Verlene and Bill Fellure, and Ellen Hursh, all of Mansfield; and numerous loved family members, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oley and Thelma Henderson; infant son, Timothy G. Lewis; niece, Melissa Jane Shafer; and special friend and brother-in-law, Jerry Hursh.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 2 p.m. memorial service Sunday at the funeral home conducted by his friend and pastor, Rev. Glenn Phillips. As a gesture of thank you to those who donate blood, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross.
