

He attended school in Elkhorn City until he joined the service in 1943 to serve during World War II serving in the 101st Airbourne Division. Following the service, he went back to Kentucky for a while until he moved to Michigan to work for General Motors. When General Motors opened in Ontario, he moved to the Mansfield area. He retired after 37 years as a tool and die maker. He also owned and operated Potter's Carryout which he enjoyed very much.
He is survived by his children, Larry (Charlene) Potter, Diana (Henry) Geary, Steve Potter, Jeff Potter, Sandy Potter Clevinger and Gail Potter; his step children, Michael (Paula) Earlywine, Carolyn Sue (Joe) Noser and Darlene (Harold) Smith; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; brothers, Cline Potter, Burns Potter, Blake Potter and Jerry Potter; several nieces and nephews; and his dear friend and sister-in-law, Violet Gross.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Pearl (Jordan) Potter, Leona (Fields) Potter and Agnes Martin; his oldest son, Frank Potter, a grandson, Brandon Arter; a brother, Chester Potter; and two sisters, Beulah Potter and Avonell Ratliff.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Military services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow the service at the funeral home.
