
Larence R. 'Shorty' Peaslee, 60, of Candlewood Lake, Mt. Gilead, died suddenly Wednesday, September 6, 2006 while fishing on Lake Erie. He was born September 20, 1945 to Clarence and Theresa Kahler Peaslee. He was a 1963 graduate of Crestline High School and retired in 1999 after 30 years of service from General Motors where he worked as a tool and die maker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Amvets Post #87, was a previous member of Mansfield Power Squadron, and current member of Candlewood Boat and Fishing Club. Mr. Peaslee was an avid boater, loved his family and lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Christine Logan Peaslee; daughter, Michelle Jason Dials of Lexington; son, Michael Mayfield of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Alexis and Jack Dials; two sisters, Belinda Jim Kehrle of Lexington and Delaura Paul McGuire of Columbus; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Esther and Gene Logan of Mansfield; brother-in-law, David Vicki Logan of Delaware; four nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Thursday, September 14 from 5-9 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Candlewood Women's Auxiliary or Candlewood Boating and Fishing Club.
