

Lavina C. Conkey, 91, passed away early Monday morning, November 16, 2015, at St. Francis Senior Ministries in Tiffin, Ohio. She was born September 2, 1924, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Oscar B. and Agnes (Sifferlen) Frontz.
Lavina was formerly employed as a cook at Cardinal Vending Company. She enjoyed crocheting and made many beautiful afghans over the years. A very social person, she enjoyed her time with friends at various clubs. She maintained membership with the V.F.W. Post # 9943 Auxiliary, Amvets Post #31 Auxiliary, Sons of Herman, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the American Legion.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Fligor; four grandsons, Warren Conkey, Bradley Conkey, David Fligor and Brian Fligor; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph Conkey, Danielle, Joshua, Emma, Kensie, William and Sara Fligor; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Conkey; two sisters, Freda Childers and Irene Phillips; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Conkey; son, Dwight Conkey; infant daughter, Theresa Conkey; two brothers, Earl and Gerald Frontz; and five sisters, Anna Pifer, Marcella Sauders, Helen Harvey, Rose Fairchild, and Clara Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be recited on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church, 1630 Ashland Rd., Mansfield, Ohio. Burial will follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Shelby, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Francis Senior Ministries, 182 St. Francis Avenue, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.
